2011 –2013 LATXSSAR Fundraiser

The fundraiser for the 2011-2013 term was a Patriotic Quilt.  The quilt was hand worked.  The center design was an appliqué of the U.S. Seal with quilted with feathers on the top and bottom.  On the sides of the constellation George and Martha Washington have been quilted and liberty bells are quilted on each side of the eagle.  Flowers and geometric designs are quilted in the butter yellow setting.  All quilting is done by hand.  Pictured at right is the quilt with Barbara Stevens, who designed, constructed and quilted the project.

The LATXSSAR fundraiser raised $3,333 which was presented to Texas SAR for the Patriot Fund for use in their youth Programs.

And our winner was...

Pictured at left (or above) are Michael and Ginia Chapline, winners of the LATXSSAR Patriot Project Quilt.  The Chaplines are from Fort Worth.  Michael has recently submitted his application for membership in SAR through the Van Zandt Chapter there.  He will be honoring his patriot ancestor, Jeremiah Chapline, on July 4th in Sharpsburg, MD by laying a wreath on his grave.  He commented on the quilt, "The quilt is a tangible and beautiful reminder of the contribution made by our forefathers that we will always treasure.  Thank you again!”
