Purpose

Poster Contest

The SAR awards the Americanism Elementary School Poster Contest winners to foster the education of American's Revolution.

Eligibility

Poster Contest

Open to all local area American History elementary students in 4th or 5th grade, dependent on which grade year the American Revolution is taught.


Deadline

Mid January to the local Chapter, please contact the Chapter Chairman as needed. See the below Texas SAR link for more scheduling information.


Contest Checklist

Judged Criteria

  1. Does the poster express the annual theme?
  2. Does the poster show originality by the student?
  3. Does the poster show evidence of research?
  4. Does the poster show artistic merit and creativity?
  5. Does the poster accurately reflect the historical event?
  6. Is the poster neat and visually pleasing?

Awards

Awards
  1. The winner from each school will advance to compete at our Arlington Chapter level.
  2. Our Chapter Winner will advance to compete at the Texas State Society Conference (once the Permission / Release form is completed).
    • 1st Place – $25
  3. The Texas State Society Conference winner will advance to compete at the National Level.
  4. The National winners will receive a Rosette Ribbon and
    • 1st Place – $300
    • 2nd Place – $200
    • 3rd Place – $150
    • 4th & 5th Place – $100
