The SAR awards the George S. & Stella M. KnightEssay Scholarship
to students as an opportunity to explore events that shaped American history.
Conducted at the Chapter, State Society and National Society levels, the students must submit an original essay
with topics based on original research and deal with an event, person, philosophy or ideal associated with the
American Revolution, Declaration of Independence, or the framing of the United States Constitution.
Open to all (male and female) Texas public, private and home-schooled High School freshmen through seniors.
Deadline
Mid December to the local Chapter, please contact the Chapter Chairman as needed.

Our chapter winner will recieve $50 and will advance to compete at the Texas State Society Conference
(once the Permission / Release form is completed).
The Texas State Society Conference winners will receive:
1st Place – $2,500
plus some travel expenses as outlined on the state website. Also the winner will advance to compete at the National level.
2nd Place – $750
3rd Place – $500
The National Society winners will receive:
1st Place – $5,000, medal and plus up to $500
for 1 night hotel stay at the annual SAR Congress, normally in July.
