Minutes May 26, 2011
A meeting of the Lt. Nathan Gann Chapter, S.A.R., was held at 7 PM May 26, 2011 at the Golden Corral Restaurant in Lufkin. Members and guests started arriving after 6 PM to enjoy a Dutch Treat dinner before the meeting.
Vice President Bob Ham led the assemblage in the plede to the flags.
Members present were: Bob Ham, 1st VP., Harold Newsom, Treasurer, Tom Gann, Mike Everheart, Martin Netherland and Bill Royle. Guests were Charlene Ham, Betty Preston, Geneva Newsom, Philip Price, Rett Price, June Everheart and Vicki Gann.. In all there were 6 members.and 7 guests. Bill Royle was a charter member whose membership lapsed, now reinstated. Philip Price is a prospective member and Rett is his son.
Naranjo was not present and Preston had pneumonia and could not attend. Betty Preston took some notes for these minutes.
The speaker for the evening was Tom Gann who talked about John Bowles, a Most Unusual Warrior 1756-1839. Bowles was a Cherokee chief and he befriended Sam Houston. The two first met in eastern Tennessee and then again in Texas. It was a very interesting and informative talk.

Mike Everheart noted that there would be a Flag retirement ceremony in Tyler on Saturday June 11.
Bob Ham led the assemblage in the closing admonition and the meeting was adjourned at 8 PM.
